NECK PAIN IS A MAIN CAUSE OF DISABILITY WORLDWIDE
Ann Rheum Dis.
Neck pain (also known as cervicalgia or neck stiffness) may be caused by a misalignment of the cervical spineby known causes (hits, falls, motor vehicle accidents…). Cervicalgia may also have an unknown source (ignored bad postures, traumatic birth…).
Neck pain may also be caused by lesions in areas adjoining the neck, producing discomfort such as shoulders ache, headache, jaw pain, arm pain…and also general back pain.
The term neck stiffness is generally used to describe reduced flexibility of the neck, as noted by the person who suffers it.
If there is a lesion between the cervical vertebras that irritates a spinal nerve it may produce loss of touch as well as muscular weakness to the arms and hands. The cause may possibly be a herniated disc.
